How to choose your Morocco desert tour

The first decision is where you start. If you arrive in Marrakech, the 3- and 4-day desert tours to Merzouga are the most requested, and the 2-day trip to Zagora is the alternative when time is short. From Fes, the Merzouga desert is a single day’s drive away, so 2 or 3 days are enough.

If you want to see both cities, the most practical option is a Marrakech to Fes desert tour — or Fes to Marrakech — which avoids doubling back. And if you have a week or more, the 8-, 10- and 12-day Morocco itineraries from Casablanca or Tangier take in the imperial cities, Chefchaouen, the Sahara and the Atlantic coast.
