A Moroccan travel agency born, quite literally, in the sand of the Sahara.
Our story
Camello Viaje was founded by five of us, brothers raised in Merzouga at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes. As children we learned to find our way by the crests of the sand, to look after the camels and to welcome the travellers who came to the village with a glass of tea.
What began as family hospitality became, more than a decade ago, our profession. Today we organise tours all over Morocco, but we still work the same way: on a small scale, directly, and treating every person as a guest.
Growing up surrounded by the wonders of the Sahara gave us enormous respect for its culture, its landscapes and its people. That passion for our homeland is what drives us to create authentic trips, where you spend time with local families rather than just passing by.
After more than ten years on the road, we know which route is the most beautiful, what time a kasbah is empty and where to eat the best tagine. That first-hand knowledge lets us design personalised itineraries that match your interests.
Whether you dream of crossing golden dunes by camel, losing yourself in centuries-old kasbahs or soaking up village life, we will be with you. You bring the dates and the enthusiasm; we provide the road.
How we work
Always private. We do not put strangers together. The vehicle and driver are yours alone, which means you can stop for a photo, linger on a walk or change plans as you go.
With local people. Our drivers, camel handlers and cooks live in the places we travel through. What you pay for your trip stays with the families of the area.
With respect. We look after our camels, leave no litter in the dunes and work with small places to stay that share that outlook.
No small print. The price we quote includes what we say it does. If something is not covered — lunches, for example — we tell you before you book.
